Fluff Removers

With more pollution problems & with a view to make more reuse of water a lot of mills are re-circulating their backwater to the maximum. With this back water a lot of small colloids build up in the system. These colloids are very small in microns size and are not bonded except to some extent by alum and remain free in flotation form. These are not retained on wire, give choking of press felts and are seen in paper m/c. as fluff on dryers and MG doctors. They give certain coating in MG /dryers making it dirty and reduce glaze of paper/ board and affect heat transfer. They give more choking of blankets in offset printing causing more frequent stoppages of presses and sometimes are known as low wax pickup.

A Variety of anionic materials may find their way into the paper system residual cooking liquor from either kraft or sulfite (lignin sulfonic acid), humic acids, dissolved solids from ground wood, various dispersing agents (including pitch dispersants), and residues from coated broke or waste paper recovery. As use of short fibers like agricultural residues and hardwood increase the anionic trash or fluff increase.

Trash predominately represents anionic, dissolved or even dissolved colloidal oligomers or polymers and non-ionic hydrocolloids. These substances will not or only partially be adsorbed or incorporated in sheet formation and hence, not carried out with the paper web. The concentration of these substances steadily rises with more water recirculation. Deposits and uncontrolled precipitations build up in the system and also increase COD.

Our EZOFIX – 145 fluff remover. This is very high cationic low molecular weight polymers specially formulated for these purposes. It effectively coagulate the fluff causing materials and join them with fibers so that they do not remain free as such and are less seem on dryer doctors. It also gives less press felts chocking or coating. MG/dryers glaze is improved and some economy in steam is solids, especially in conjunction with high molecular weight retention drainage aids. They improves overall machine productivity by reducing breaks. By controlling colloids, they reduce system COD.

It can be put in mixing chest as supplied and are easy handle. It can be easily diluted in fresh water. The doses may vary around 200/500 gms per ton.
